Bio

Jason Becker enters his fourth year as the Lakers head coach in 2023-24 after serving as head coach of Robert Morris University (Ill.) for nine years, posting a career record of 337-238.

Prior to his head coaching role, Becker was an assistant coach at RMU from 2009 to 2011 and served as the pitching coach and associate head coach for the team's NAIA World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. In addition to his role managing the Eagles baseball program, Becker served as the Director of Operations for the Robert Morris University softball team. 

Becker is a 1999 graduate of St. Joseph's College (Ind.), where he helped the Pumas to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship during his senior season in Rensselaer, Ind. A Division II pre-season All-American and a GLVC All-Conference shortstop in 1998 and 1999, Becker is the St. Joseph's College all-time leader in stolen bases and sacrifice flies. During his junior season with the Pumas, Becker compiled a .498 on-base percentage and swiped 52 bases to set the SJC single-season record. 

In recognition of his on-field success, Becker was named to the NCAA Division II All-Midwest Region Baseball Team in 1998 and 1999. The shortstop was also part of the Pumas 1996 and 1999 NCAA Division II World Series teams while competing for St. Joseph's College. Following his senior season at Bremen High School in Midlothian, Ill., Becker was drafted by Major League Baseball's New York Yankees in the 54th round of the 1995 June Amateur Draft. 

After leaving St. Joseph's College, Becker assumed teaching and coaching positions at several south-suburban high schools, including Bremen, Tinley Park, and Oak Forest. Becker has also served as an instructor for the Chicago White Sox Training Camps and taught for 21 years as a physical education teacher at Jack Hille Middle School in Oak Forest, Ill.

Becker is a resident of Dyer, Ind., where he resides with his wife Jennifer, son Hayden, and daughter Brooklyn.
