Lakers Burned By Top-Ranked Fire On Spring Break

LAKELAND, Fla. – Roosevelt lost its battle with top-ranked Southeastern 15-4 on Saturday morning in Lakeland, Fla.

The Lakers (6-4) jumped ahead of the No. 1 Fire in the top of the second inning when Jojo Mack cleared the bases with a double through the right side. It capped off a strong two-out rally that included two Lakers getting hit by pitches and a single from James Berry. Bryce Hayman added Roosevelt's fourth run with a solo home run in the seventh inning, which also came with two outs in the frame.

Griffin Lamarche started out strong on the mound for the Lakers, stranding a two-out double at second base in the first inning. He settled down in the second inning after the Fire scored two runs with a strikeout to start a run of three consecutive outs to maintain the Roosevelt lead. Southeastern took the lead for good in the third inning and scored in each successive inning to close out the contest.

Roosevelt closes out its weekend Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. matchup with Morningside at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale, Fla.
