Baseball Loses CCAC Conference Contest to Olivet Nazarene 11-1

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team lost the final game of a three-game CCAC Conference series to Olivet Nazarene University, losing by the score of 11-1 in seven innings on Wednesday, April 6 at Watson Field.  The loss evened the Lakers conference record at 6-6 and dropped their overall record to 12-15 on the year.

The Tigers quickly took the lead in the first inning, jumping ahead 3-0 on a three-run homer and adding two more runs later in the inning.  The hosts pushed their lead to 7-0 with two runs on five hits in the third inning and added a solo run in the fourth to lead 8-0.

The Lakers broke up the shutout with a run in the top of the fifth inning with Daniel Gutierrez driving in Danny Holloway on a sacrifice fly.  Holloway reached after being hit by a pitch and advanced to third on an Andrew Olszewski base hit with an error on the play. 

Olivet Nazarene answered back with three runs in the bottom half of the inning on four hits to increase its lead to 11-1.  Roosevelt was unable to score in the sixth or seventh and lost the game by run-rule after seven innings.
