Lakers Fall to Third-Ranked Southeastern 10-3 in Non-Conference Baseball Action

LAKELAND, Fla. – The Roosevelt University baseball team squared off against one of the top teams in the NAIA on Wednesday, March 2, losing to third-ranked Southeastern University by the score of 10-3 at Ted A. Broer Stadium.  The loss dropped the Lakers overall record to 2-6 on the year.

Southeastern raced out to a 6-0 lead to begin the game, scoring two runs in the first and fourth innings and solo runs in the both the second and third innings. 

In the top of the sixth inning, Roosevelt loaded the bases with the help of two errors and a walk, and Trevor Heinlein drove in three runs with a double to right center cut the deficit in half and make it a 6-3 ballgame.

Unfortunately, the Lakers would not score again in the game, while the Fire added two runs in both the bottom halves of the sixth and seventh innings for the final 10-3 score line.

  • Trevor Heinlein drove in all three runs, going 1-for-3 with a double

NEXT UP

The Lakers continue action on their spring trip on Friday, March 4 with single games against Cornerstone University (Mich.) and Trinity Baptist College (Fla.).  Both games will be played at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Fla. with first pitch versus Cornerstone scheduled for 12:30pm and 4pm for the contest against Trinity Baptist.
