Lakers Split CCAC Conference Baseball Doubleheader with Judson

ELGIN, Ill. – The Roosevelt University baseball team split a Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) doubleheader with Judson University on Saturday, March 27 at Hoffer Field in Elgin, Ill., winning game one 5-3 and losing game two 9-4. With the doubleheader split, the Lakers dropped the three-game series to Judson after falling to the Eagles 6-0 on Friday, March 26.

The Lakers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning of game one with Andrew Rodriguez (SR/Oak Forest, Ill.) hitting a two-run homer, but the Eagles came back with two runs of their own on three hits in the bottom half off starting pitcher Noah Mathias (SO/LaPorte, Ind.). Roosevelt added two more runs in the fifth with Daniel Gutierrez (SO/New Lenox, Ill.) picking up two RBI on a base hit and Krzysztof Solis (FR/Algonquin, Ill.) went 5 1/3 innings in relief allowing just one run on five hits for the 5-3 win.

In game two, the Lakers scored first again with two runs in the top of the third on another homerun from Rodriguez, but Judson blew open the game with a seven-run fourth inning to lead 7-2. Roosevelt got two runs back the next inning with Rodriguez driving in another run on a base hit. Unfortunately, the Lakers could not add any more runs while the Eagles scored solo runs in both the sixth and eighth innings for the 9-4 score line.
