Lakers Earn 21 Spots On CCAC Fall All-Academic Teams

CHICAGO – Roosevelt University had 21 athletes represented last month when the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2023-24 fall sports All-Academic team honorees.

The men's soccer team led the way with 10 student-athletes on the team, including senior Todor Simonovic, who is a four-time honoree from the league. Sebastian Padilla earned his second honor from the CCAC for his performance in the classroom and Eduardo Hernandez earned his third award. The first-time honorees were sophomores Jonathan Hernandez, Valerio Joos and Oskar Schuster along with juniors Gabriel Koenig and Sebastian Rodriguez, as well as seniors Otitololuwa Ojo and Adam Pryztula.

Both the women's soccer and women's volleyball programs placed five students each on their respective all-academic teams. Giovanna Garduno and Paola Macias both earned their second women's soccer All-Academics team honors as juniors. Mackenzie Alvarez and Roxana Herrera were both first-time honorees as sophomores while senior Anahi Valerio Nunez earned her first distinction as a senior.

Viktoria Marysheva and Krista Norton were both returning honorees on the volleyball court along with three first-time eligible candidates: Olivia Adams, Zoe Hutchinson and Gabrielle Teorey. Angie Delgado earned her third All-Academic team nod for women's cross country as the Lakers' only representative from the program.

To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must have been enrolled at their respective CCAC school for a minimum of one academic year, have completed at least 30 semester hours and boast no less than a 3.25 cumulative grade point average.
