Delgado Earns Second NAIA Scholar-Athlete Honor

CHICAGO – Roosevelt University senior Angie Delgado was named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete in cross country for the second consecutive year, the organization announced last week.

Delgado ran in four of the five meets this season for the Lakers, placing 66th in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's championship meet on Nov. 4. The Carpentersville, Ill. native is the fifth different Lakers runner to earn this honor in consecutive seasons. Delgado also was an NAIA Scholar-Athlete for women's track and field last season.

Per the NAIA, the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete programs recognize excellence in the classroom by NAIA-member student-athletes who are juniors or above in academic standing with a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Students must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at the institution. The awards are given annually to outstanding student-athletes in the various sports in which the program is active and their respective teams are eligible for NAIA postseason competition.
