Men's Basketball Suffers 61-54 Upset CCAC Conference Loss to St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa – The Roosevelt University men's basketball team was upset by St. Ambrose University by the score of 61-54 in a CCAC Conference game on Saturday, January 15 at Lee Lohman Arena.  The Lakers fell to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the CCAC Conference this season.

The Lakers fell behind early in the contest and trailed 18-10 with 10:21 to play in the first half.  The visitors then scored the next eight points to tie the game at 18-18 behind two three-pointers by Anthony Martinez and a jumper by Matt Myers.  Roosevelt grabbed a brief lead at 22-20 on an Ayomide Ajiboye layup with 6:20 to go, but the Fighting Bees quickly regained the lead and led 29-24 at the half.

St. Ambrose continued to hold the lead in the second half and built a 44-32 advantage with 12:30 left to go in the game.  Andrew Veon then knocked down two three-pointers and added a layup, while Ajiboye had a dunk and Caleb Brown scored on a layup to spark a 12-0 run for the Lakers and tie the game up at 44-44 with 6:22 remaining.  However, the Fighting Bees answered by scoring the next six points to regain control of the game and went on to win 61-54.
