Softball Splits Against Goshen
ROSEMONT, Ill. – The Roosevelt University softball team returned to the field for the first time in a month on Monday, March 8, playing outdoors for the first time this spring with a doubleheader split against Goshen (Ind.) at The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex.
Roosevelt run-ruled the Leafs 8-0 in five innings to open the twinbill, spurred by Aisley Njissang (SR/Los Altos, Calif.)'s three-run homer three batters into the game and Kate Sisson (SO/Martinsville, Ind.)'s shutout showing in the circle. The Lakers got off to a fast start in game two with a three-run second inning thanks to Amber Green (SR/Palos Park, Ill.)'s two-run two-bagger, but Goshen rallied back by scoring six runs to take a 6-3 lead. Roosevelt tacked on two in the sixth to get within a run late, and the Lakers put the tying run on base in the seventh but came away empty-handed in suffering a 6-5 defeat despite a valiant comeback effort.
