Ogawa Named All-American After Historic Season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kekoa Ogawa's record-breaking season earned him one more award as he was named a Third-Team NAIA All-American by the American Baseball Coaches' Association and Rawlings, the organization announced Tuesday. The NAIA uses these three teams as their official All-American performers as well.
The junior third baseman from Hawaii is the first player in program history to earn All-American status, cementing his season as the best in Roosevelt history. The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference's Player of the Year set the Lakers record for hits (77), runs batted in (55), doubles (19) and home runs (9) all while hitting .416, the second-best mark among those with at least 100 at-bats in a season. Ogawa also led the team with 21 stolen bases all while striking out just 11 times in 185 at-bats.
In addition to his performances at the plate, Ogawa served as Roosevelt's closer and finished with a 3-2 record and five saves in 14 total appearances on the mound.
